My buddy

I have a confession. When Brody and I found out I was pregnant with our second child, we hoped it would be another girl. I think part of it was that was all we knew, and we had all the cute clothes! And part of it for me, was that I wanted Scarlett to have that special bond with a sister that I have with Jaime. And so, secretly, I prayed for another girl.
But God knows what we need...and on August 9, 2007 he answered my prayer with a no. My sweet Clark was born. He melted our hearts immediately, and I was so ashamed I had ever wanted anything else. In the beginning I still worried about Scarlett and wondered how she would feel about having a brother. Now I realize how silly that was. They have such love for each other, and I am so blessed.
I love love love this boy. This sweet, happy, stubborn, busy, curious, fearless, joyful boy. To get cheesy and quote a movie line, he is everything we never knew we always wanted.
Happy Birthday Clark Sullivan!!

I sort of felt the same way about having another girl or having a boy. There's just something so special about sisters and I wanted that for Darby. But my goodness... I am just head-over-heels infatuated with my Sutton! When he was born my Aunt Pam told me that there was nothing like the love of a mother for her son. That moms and daughters have a unique bond but that it is sooooooo very different from the mom/son bond. I kind of laughed then.... but it is so true!

Clark is such a precious boy! I just love his little grin! Happy Birthday to him!

Adorable pics! Treasure him now as he won't be little forever and then you'll have much more "explosive" adjectives to use to describe him. (Speaking from a mom of 2 of those little rambunctious boys.)

So glad that Clarky was planned for you...and thankful that Briggs has a friend of the same sex, although Scarlett and Beck are lucky too.
