We had a great Fourth of July! It rained that weekend, but it didn't dampen our patriotic spirits. :)

I don't know how I managed to not get any pics of the adults or the food, but I did snap a picture of the dessert. Maegan's parents were in town and they brought the fried chicken. We ate chicken, yummy salad with ramen noodles (can't remember the name right now), broccoli rice casserole, rolls, and this delicious treat with homemade ice cream. Our plan was to spend the day at my parents, swim, and then head over to church for the 4th of July celebration. However, it rained earlier that weekend and some during lunch and so the celebration was cancelled. With nothing to do we started trying to come up with places that we could see some fireworks. I'm kind of embarrassed to say that my kids had never seen them. It may not work for everyone, but my kids go to bed early and a schedule really works for us. But...now that they are getting a little bigger, they're more adaptable so we thought we'd give it a try. Some friends called us letting us know where they would be that evening so we decided to meet them there.

The kids did really well and we never had a meltdown or fight. They were really excited to see the show and were pretty impressed. We didn't get home until 11:00 that night but it was well worth it!
Happy Birthday America!
