A Tale of Two Teams

Once upon a time, there was a little girl born into a family with orange blood. As she grew, she discovered the love that is Longhorn football. She had her own cheerleading uniform made by her mommy, orange shag carpeting in her playroom, and was taught the Hook 'Em sign by a real Longhorn cheerleader. She watched Texas on TV every Saturday during football season, and was even able to go to some of the games in Austin. It was love at first down.

Fast forward to a day when this young girl becomes a lady and goes off to Lubbock Christian University. She attends a few Texas Tech games but doesn't understand the fans and their love of throwing tortillas.

A few years after college, the lady meets a handsome young fella. Despite the fact that he was a Red Raider and tossed the tortillas, she loves him anyway.

The day comes when they have children of their own. Deep in her heart, the lady Longhorn cannot bear to clothe her children in red and black. But her love for her sweetheart is deeper than even the love of her team. Alas, she is in a divided house.

Proof that mixed marriages do work. We're just so thankful he wasn't an aggie.

Sleeping Beauties

There's nothing sweeter than going in to sneak a peek at your sleeping babies at night. However, with mine I never know what I might find.

Exhibit A:
I guess she had the tape from "quiet time" earlier in the day, but I really have no idea.

Exhibit B:
This guy didn't have as much to work with, but he did somehow manage to make himself into a "Clark taco".

American Girl

This weekend was one full of memory making! I don't remember when I came up with this idea, (I think it was from Sheridan) but I decided that Scarlett would skip a 5th birthday party and instead we would take a girls trip to Dallas and the American Girl store. I asked my mom if she wanted to join us and then the fun began.
arriving at the Westin Galleria
Scarlett loved the hotel room :)
but she was THRILLED to finally be at American Girl!
If you know Scarlett, you know she loves animals. Honestly, if we had never mentioned the dolls, I think she would have been perfectly content to get this little puppy and nothing else!

with her new dog, Honey
She got the "Just Like Me" doll. She wanted to name her Flower, but since we don't live in Hollywood I helped her come up with some types of flowers that worked better as names...

here she is with Lily
The only disappointment she had the entire trip was that we did not take her ice skating. Honestly, she's not that good on roller skates and Mom wasn't about to go out there with her. I haven't ice skated in forever so I didn't really want to risk it either...maybe next time.
snug as a bug in a rug
If you ever plan on visiting Dallas and going to American Girl, I HIGHLY recommend staying at the Westin Galleria. They have a cheaper rate if you ask for the American Girl package and they give you this cute bed for your doll and also milk and cookies!
that is a "daddy size" glass of milk-but she loved the fancy glass
headed to lunch the next day dressed just like Lily

it was so fun to be able to do this with Mimi-retirement is awesome!
me and my girl
(ps-Jaime made my cutie patootie tank top...check out her site!)
she loved her appetizer of fruit, muffins and yogurt

It was a wonderful trip, and I am so glad this is how we chose to spend Scarlett's fifth birthday. I am thinking and hoping we can do something really special every 5 years...maybe by her 10th birthday I'll be ready to let her ice skate-ha!

From the mind of Clark Sullivan:

Oh no! What has she done?
Permanent holes in her ears?!!? Is that cool? She looks happy.
Yeah, I'm over it-she looks good.

Pretty in Pink

Scarlett started dance last week. It's an hour of jumping, twirling, and basically just staring at herself in the mirror. She's in heaven.

Clark on the other hand, gets bored after about 30 minutes. Last Monday, he yelled "Sissy!" while banging on the glass door and drove a sweet girl to tears.
You can kind of see Scarlett. She's the blur with the headband on. Thankfully, one of Scarlett's friends is in her class and her mom is an actual photographer. Hopefully I can get her to snap some shots for me so that in 10 years I actually have proof that she took dance. I'm not sure these shots prove anything.
