Scarlett and Beck took swimming lessons for the past two weeks. My sweet mom volunteered her pool and found someone on the Alamo Heights swim team that could give them lessons. Each child got their own 30 minutes with her and I think it worked out perfectly. I had never even let Scarlett put her face in the water because I was afraid she'd swallow too much, but after these lessons she now can jump off the side and swim to the steps. It isn't pretty, but she can do it. She can also go to the bottom of the pool and get a ring or other toy. The only problem is now I'm almost more nervous than I was before because she thinks she can do so much by herself!

Go Scarlett!!! You crack me up with the no face in the water!! I miss teasing you about your little "fears". Ha!!! That would never fly with Noah - he dives to the bottom of 5 feet for dive sticks! I wish he had a little fear because he does actually scare me.
That's a great accomplishment!!! I will probably get Lindy going next year. I definitely want her to learn since I don't really know how.
What a perfect arrangement you had. So glad it was a huge success. Way to go Scarlett and Beck. Next year Clark??? Ha!

It was a joy to see Scarlett and Beck learning to "swim". It was a good start to getting used to going under and holding their breath. I think they both had a good time. Glad we did it and look forward to next summer and more lessons!
Wow! That's some fast learning. I'm impressed. There is some comfort in knowing that she could swim to the edge and save her life if she fell in.
Should I be embarrassed that Scarlett can swim better than me?
