Growing up, I was so fortunate to have both sets of grandparents living in San Antonio. I have such wonderful memories of going to their house to spend the night or just going to play. I still laugh at the time my mom's parents (MeeMaw and PeePaw) took us to a haunted house. Jaime and I couldn't get out of there fast enough! My dad's parents (MawMaw and PawPaw) had a travel camper and would take us places like the beach. We even went to an Indian Reservation once...so much fun!
I think these memories are part of what made me hope and pray that I would marry a man from San Antonio. I really wanted my kids to have the same experience I had. I know that not everyone has family nearby, and I am sure that the excitement of traveling to see grandparents can be thrilling! Making memories with grandparents is the most important thing, whether they are near or far.
Last Wednesday night, my parents took Scarlett home from church to spend the night. My mom didn't have her camera charged so she only got a few pictures. She did tell me all about their time together: staying up until 10:30, having coffee for breakfast(!), swimming in the morning, and then going to Build a Bear and the Disney Store. Scarlett was so excited about getting Marie from the Aristocats that she couldn't even eat her Chick fil A.
When I was little my Paw Paw always told me I could have "whatever my little heart desired." Usually that meant I could have my choice of popsicle flavor. (I was easy to please) These days Brody calls my parents house "Fantasy Island" because the kids get pretty much whatever they want...I would say that's true. It's not the "stuff" that they want, but just the time spent together (and probably the coffee...Scarlett loved the coffee). I am so thankful for grandparents and for the love they have for my babies! Love you Mom and Dad. Thanks again!!
