Birthday girl

Today is my mom's birthday. Last year I wrote this in her honor. This year, I thought I'd share a funny story. The only problem is, I can't think of any that don't include something that might be really embarrassing for her (or Jaime, Jordan or me for that matter) and I'm not really sure she'd want the whole 10 people that read this blog to learn of some of these secrets. So, instead, I'll just say, to my
clothes making, early rising, family loving, super crafting, often laughing, hard working, crazy driving, book reading, grandchild spoiling mom...Happy Birthday! I love you!!

You know picture day is right around the corner when...

...your little guy (who has been walking for over a month now) falls leaving his first big bump on his noggin. I guess he didn't want his chapped nostrils from the massive cold he has to feel left out in the photo shoot.
"You lookin' at me?"

Oh well, bump or no bump, chapped nostrils and all, I still love him to pieces. And now looking at the picture, the bump doesn't even look so bad...so maybe it will be all better by Sunday.

Re-do

I can now cross off "learn how to make curtains" from my list of things to get Mom to teach me. Friday she helped me make these, and they really weren't that hard. I had meant to take "before" and "after" pictures, but of course, forgot. I used to just have a dark denim curtain, so it will probably take me a while to get used to having any type of print, but I think after living with it for a while, I'll like it.

I still need to get a new rug for the back door, but you get the main idea. I also bought a slip cover for the chair in the family room. Since everything is so open, it kind of makes sense to have all the same colors in both rooms to help with the "flow". It is kind of a pain to have to keep tucking it in, but I'm sure I'll get used to that too, and it was much cheaper than the alternative of buying a new chair. Mom also helped me make pillows, but that was the last lesson of the day so it's safe to say I would not be able to make those again on my own.
So, there you go Maegan...since you're the one who requested the pics :) And thanks Mom for all your help!

On a totally separate note I need to send a shout out to Jenn. I had a great time Saturday shopping. It reminded me of our single days when we'd drive to Austin and get that yummy candy bar at Central Market and then shop at Harold's. I kind of almost felt like a girl in my 20's again :) And since I'm mentioning you on the blog, let me take this opportunity to say you should start one of your own!!!!

Our Saturday

What do you do when Daddy has to work on Saturday? Why, help Mommy with chores, of course!

No wonder it takes me twice as long to get things done when Brody has to work. But I must admit, I love my little helpers :)

Just call him Brody jr.

Brody and I have a hard time telling if the kids look like us or not. Scarlett is starting to resemble me a bit more, but I think it's mainly her hair that reminds me of myself when I was her age. Clark is starting to look like Scarlett, but we really couldn't tell if he looked more like me or Brody...that is, until I found this:
Clark at 5 months
Brody
I think it's pretty safe to say he looks like his daddy. And here's a picture of him today...I still think maybe he's going to look more like Brody than me. And since he's a boy, I guess that's a good thing.

Best.Sound.Ever.

Nothing warms my heart more than watching my kids make each other laugh. The only thing that would be better would be if it had lasted more than about 45 seconds.

Obligatory First Day of School Pictures

Mother's Day Out started today. I was a little worried that Scarlett might be anxious about going because lately all she seems to want to do is play My Little Pony with me, her new BFF.  Uh, yeah right. She was very excited to see her friends and most importantly play on the big playground this year.

Here's to a great year!
