Anniversary

We had a fun weekend. Today is Brody's parents 40th wedding anniversary, and Saturday night they had a big party and renewed their vows. His parents live in the country on some land with their horses, and they have a really pretty grove of trees where we all stood and listened to their renewal.

It was pretty warm, and right before things got started, Brody was helping take food down to the tent and spilled grease all down the front of his shirt and onto his jeans. Thankfully, his brother Casey just happened to have an extra shirt! Poor guy. (I still think he looks cute)
Sorry this picture is so bad, but it was getting pretty dark. Here are Brody's parents at the "altar"
I should have taken a picture of the food. It was so GOOD! Barbeque, potato salad, cole slaw, rolls, pasta...and a delicious cake for dessert. YUM! Jaime got to come, but Beck was supposed to have his end of the season soccer party, so Ben had to stay behind to take the boys to that. Unfortunately, Beck was running fever, so they had to skip his party :(
I meant to take pictures of everything, but it seems so hard to do when you're eating and visiting...and eating some more-ha! Here are my sweet parents. Don't they look great?! They are celebrating 41 years of marriage June 1. Happy Anniversary guys~
I know this looks like a random picture, but here's a little back story. Brody and I went to high school together but we didn't know each other. I was on the dance team and he played tennis. We used the same parking lot and on more than one occasion, I remember seeing this hideous orange VW "Thing" (that really is it's name...a Thing). I would say, "Who in the world drives that thing?! It's SO ugly!" Well...about 9 years later Brody and I meet and start dating and I realize it was HIM! He drove that nasty car to school in high school! And miracle of all miracles, it still runs and his parents use it at their place. I don't know how many miles that car has driven...it stopped working at 357,000!!!

girls night

I think it will be good for my kids to look back one day and see that I did actually have friends and do things without them. :) Once a month Jenn, Lisa, Jaime and I get together for some dessert and game night. Usually we end up just eating and talking. Last night, though, we ate, talked, played a game, and then talked some more. I didn't get home until 1:15. That's in the AM people!! I love these girls and have so much fun when we can get together. It's hard to catch up at church or when we have all our kids with us.
Jenn just moved into this great house, so Jaime made her a housewarming apron. Lisa has a newly remodeled kitchen, so she also got one. She was kind enough to make me one too, just because I'm her favorite sister. Love you Jaime, and thanks for the darling apron!
It was fun girls. I'm looking forward to next month!!

Landa Park

Today, our sweet neighbors Toni and her son Ryan asked us to go to Landa Park. We had so much fun! The pics don't really do it justice because 1. both kids were really getting a kick out of running two different directions at all times 2. Clark is hard to catch smiling and being still at the same time 3. we were mainly just having such a great time that pictures took a back seat

We got to play for about five minutes on the playground and then around 100 kindergarten students stormed us and scared us off. So...we rode the train
and then had a snack
and did some cute modeling (seriously, how did she get so BIG?!?!!?)
and then FINALLY got to reclaim our spot
Thanks Toni and Ryan for inviting us. We had a great time!

Projects

I've been in the crafting mood lately. If you like to make things you will understand this feeling...if you go too long without creating you just get the "itch" to make something! After being inspired by Jaime, this is what I made Brody's mom for Mother's Day.
Then...I decided I wanted Scarlett to have some new summer clothes, so I found this tutorial for ruffle skirts.

And finally, Scarlett has not been allowed to go to Mother's Day Out for two weeks because of this Swine Flu nonsense. So, I thought I'd take something to her teachers celebrating the fact that we finally got to go back! :)

Don't tell Daddy

I may or may not have given someone the camera so that I could just have 10 minutes to eat ice cream iron.

Here's where I avoid the obvious joke about my guy wearing his sisters clothes while in the closet.

Such a silly girl
