Tennis anyone?

Brody has been very busy this month at work. This past weekend he worked a tournament. The weather was SO beautiful here that we decided to go watch some tennis. Clark was a champ and was happy to smile at anyone that looked his way. It was the first time Scarlett actually watched a match and there was a little to learn. She sat on the grass right in front of the court to get a good view. Our conversation went something like this:
Scarlett: (with head going from left to right) full voice: Oh, that man missed. But he will try again
Me: in a tiny whisper: yes, he missed, but we have to be very quiet when we watch tennis
Scarlett: loud voice again: He is yellin'. It's not nice to yell.
Me: in a quiet voice again: no, it's not nice to lose your temper, but you HAVE to whisper

Eventually she got the hang of it and really loved watching. The next day, we decided to go out again. Sadly, we missed the finals because Clark needed a nap, but we did have time for Scarlett to play a little with Daddy. She MAYBE hit three balls the entire time, but she still had a blast.

showing off her racket
practicing
picking up balls...I think this was her favorite part
kinda looks like she wore Brody out sweet Clark taking in the view

Happy Heart Day!

Happy Valentine's Day from our family to yours! One of these days I hope to get a picture of both kids smiling where you can actually see that Scarlett has pretty blue eyes...but today was not that day :)

ps- if you are reading this Mom, thank you for the cute shirt for Miss Priss. Love you!

Weekend Fun!

Brody was out of town Thursday through Sunday for a tennis convention. I am SO thankful he is only gone once a year because we really miss him when he's gone. I have such a great family, though...our weekend was full of time with everyone:

Friday we played outside and blew bubbles:
Friday night Jaime came over for dinner. We watched Sixteen Candles and made gifts for the kids teachers:
Saturday my parents came over. My awesome mom did some painting:

My sweet dad made sure Clark got a good nap:
Saturday night Jordan and Maegan came over for dinner and games:
I had a great time with my sister, brother and sister in law, and my parents are just amazing. They even took Scarlett to church on Sunday so that Clark and I could stay home and try to sleep off the colds that we have. All in all, it was a fun weekend. I do have to say, though, that this was the best part:
Welcome home Daddy!
(Scarlett picked some "homecoming leaves" for him...and please disregard the waffle fry in the picture of her in her bed...you've just got to pick your battles sometimes!)

New "Do"

Look closely...Clark has a new hairdo. How, you might ask, does one get such a cool look?

1. eat applesauce
2. spit up
3. roll around in it
...yes, for the low price of $0.56 you too can look this good!

All Dressed Up

This past weekend, our church had our annual Ladies Retreat. This year my sister was the chairman. She did a FANTASTIC job (and I'm not just saying that because she's my sissy). She started getting everything ready last year, while pregnant. I would have lost my mind with all she has on her plate...two kids, selling her house, and organizing this big event, and yet, she did a GREAT job. The theme was "All Dressed Up" which came from Colossians 3:12. I was not able to spend the night because Clark is still nursing, and I did not want to look like Dolly Parton after going overnight and not nursing, so I just came up on Saturday. It was a lot of fun. I was able to drive Maegan - my new sister in law, and I think she had a good time, too. Here are some pictures from our fun day:

The chairman...she's so tiny, you can barely see her :)

Tag

Shannon tagged me to come up with 7 random things about me so here goes:

1. I don't like having different colored hangars in my closet. I have all white. I have tried to throw all other colors away, but if I come across one and we need it, I put it on Brody's side of the closet.

2. I generally read the ending to a book before I finish it. I guess I can't stand suspense...it's probably why I also look for my Christmas gifts before Christmas.

3. I hardly ever freeze food. I am afraid I'm going to do it wrong, and end up poisoning my family.

4. I don't like lunch. Maybe it comes from years of packing the same thing every day when I taught school.

5. I am terrible at directions. I generally have to mapquest directions to someones house about 4 times before I actually remember how to get there.

6. I like trying different foods when I go out to restaurants. I try not to order the same thing twice...unless I REALLY love it.

7. I letter count. It's hard to explain, but when I hear a word or a name, I tap out the spelling on my fingers and have to make it even. My thumbs are for the middle letter if it's uneven. Example: ja_i_me. Weird...I know.

OK...if you want to play, I'd love to read your list...if I haven't scared you away by my crazy quirks :)
