Reading Camp

Now that we're already having VBS at church this week, I thought I should get around to posting about Reading Camp. ha

We have never done Reading Camp at Mac and it was a lot of fun! Scarlett isn't one to give a lot of details, so I had to get a lot of info from Beck. Thankfully that boy pays attention to things!

The last day of Camp, I wanted to get some pictures of Scarlett's last day. There was a helper assigned to her class...a sweet middle school girl named Leslie. I asked if she'd take my camera and get some shots of the kids-and boy did she!! Here are just a few:

with the Book Fairy
her "mailbox"

where they would all meet every morning
doing crafts
this was her favorite animal that she would read with every day
I'm pretty sure this was some sort of game :)

more games-this was "doggy, doggy where's your bone?"
Scarlett LOVED playing this one
Ms. Berta-her teacher for Camp

The teachers put so much effort into these three days and it really showed. I think all of the kids had a wonderful time!

Two things I never got around to posting about

Catchy title, huh? Sorry...I couldn't think of anything else to put. A couple of weeks ago Scarlett had "Princess Camp" at her dance studio. It was princess overload and she LOVED it! She got to wear a costume and dance around to princess music while wearing a tiara. What little girl wouldn't love that?!

Then on July 3rd, Brody and I went to a surprise birthday party for his boss, Dennis. It was at their house and we had delicious brisket fajitas and I got to chat with the other pros and wives. Afterward we went to dinner...yes, we had technically just eaten but I only ate a few bites at the party and Brody can always go for more food. We had dinner at Cappy's and I was too buys devouring my yummy food to take pictures. Oh well!

This week Scarlett has been at Reading Camp at church. If I get up there tomorrow before it's all over I will take some pictures and post. She is having a blast and it is decorated SO cute!

Fourth Fun

We had a great Fourth of July! It rained that weekend, but it didn't dampen our patriotic spirits. :)

(we didn't plan to dress them alike, but sisters must think alike. ha!)

the sweet girls
I don't know how I managed to not get any pics of the adults or the food, but I did snap a picture of the dessert. Maegan's parents were in town and they brought the fried chicken. We ate chicken, yummy salad with ramen noodles (can't remember the name right now), broccoli rice casserole, rolls, and this delicious treat with homemade ice cream.
Our plan was to spend the day at my parents, swim, and then head over to church for the 4th of July celebration. However, it rained earlier that weekend and some during lunch and so the celebration was cancelled. With nothing to do we started trying to come up with places that we could see some fireworks. I'm kind of embarrassed to say that my kids had never seen them. It may not work for everyone, but my kids go to bed early and a schedule really works for us. But...now that they are getting a little bigger, they're more adaptable so we thought we'd give it a try. Some friends called us letting us know where they would be that evening so we decided to meet them there.

the girls (minus Jenn)

The kids did really well and we never had a meltdown or fight. They were really excited to see the show and were pretty impressed. We didn't get home until 11:00 that night but it was well worth it!

Happy Birthday America!

Zoo Day

Last week was an "off" week for Brody meaning that he didn't have any kids camps. While he wasn't technically off of work, he did have more time at home which we loved! The kids had been begging to go to the zoo so this was the perfect time. We got there right when they opened and only stayed a couple of hours before we all melted.

Checking out the bears

Clark's favorite: monkeys!

Clark really loved seeing his favorite animal and I think he would have been perfectly happy just standing there and watching them all day!

Brody and I loved the Africa Wild exhibit...mainly because it had air conditioning. :)

It was a great morning and I'm glad we all braved the heat. I'm even more thrilled that on Brody's time off he was willing to be outside with us, poor guy.
